Om Malik has an interesting take on the Apple iPod nano problems that have surfaced, saying that Bill Gates must be getting a big laugh out of this. Here's a response coming from Apple regarding complaints about scratched or broken screens on their iPod nano.
“This is a real but minor issue involving a vendor quality problem in a small number of units,” said Schiller. “In fact, this issue has affected less than 1/10 of 1 percent of the total iPod nano units that we’ve shipped. It is not a design issue.”
If this is the case, let's see how fast Apple can rectify the ipod nano problems.

If it says "okay to disconnect" you may have to let it sit and let the battery wear down overnight. Then it should be off. Then you should be able follow the reset directions on apple.com (toggle hold switch and hold down the play and select buttons at the same time to reset the settings). Hope this helps someone!

I have the same problem here. Previously I can't recharge or not being recognised by my computer. Then I tried to hold "Select + Menu". It worked and I can now charge my ipod nano and transfer songs. However, after the transfer, I disconnected it normally from the computer and then it is now giving me the "disk mode" with "ok to disconnect". I have tried the same method, holding "Select + Menu" but nothing happened. What can I do? HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

My ipod is flashing on and off. I pressed the select and play/pause buttons and it switched to disc mode. How do I fix this? If I try the 5 rs, it just goes back to flashing on then off, on then off, on, off...you get the idea. What next?
