News.com's Apple Blog points out that the new iPod Nano uses the same dock connector as its larger iPod and iPod Mini brethren. However, if you try plugging in a FireWire cable, an error message appears: "FireWire connections are not supported. To transfer songs, connect the USB cable provided."
It is a bit strange, since Apple is the company that helped make Firewire connections so popular.
