Calling himself an "Apple guy and a gadget nut", Jon Gales of MobileTracker shares his opinion about the iPod nano in a review on MacMerc.com where he says, "The iPod nano is the coolest thing I own bar none."
"The minute I heard about the iPod nano, I knew I couldn't look at my mini the same. I actually heard about it later than most of you, since I was on a flight to New York during the announcement. When I heard about it from the Engadget guys at a party that night, I quickly plotted a trip to the SoHo Apple Store the next morning. To my surprise they had no units, but I was able to pick one up at my local store this morning."

Evolution Vinyl Works has introduced a new line of iPod nano skins, specially designed to give your iPod nano a whole new look. The full-color printed "stickers" or TrueVue™ "stickers" provide total front and back iPod nano coverage.
All of their printed wraps are 1440 dpi, high resolution images printed on 8-year cast vinyl that never shrinks or warps. After the printing is done it then receives a 2 ml high-luster clear vinyl laminate film to prevent any smudging, scratching, or smearing.
“This is just the start of what we plan to do with the “Skindustry” said Mike King, Co-Founder of Evolution Vinyl Works. “In a matter of days the demand for this particular product line has been overwhelming to say the least”.

New York Times technology writer David Pogue reviews the iPod nano, and points out that the new Apple gadget has a few similarities, and some nice new features that are not found on other iPods. David Pogue writes:
"Like other iPods, the new one is designed to synchronize its audio material with the free iTunes jukebox software for Mac and Windows; it handles songs copied from your own CD collection, songs you've bought from Apple's online music store, audio books from Audible.com, and any of 15,000 free weekly podcasts (wildly uneven, and wildly entertaining, amateur radio shows). But only the Nano identifies, with a blue dot, the podcasts you haven't yet listened to, and only the Nano can display the lyrics of whatever song is now playing. (That trick requires you to install the new 5.0 version of iTunes and paste the lyrics in yourself.)"

An Apple iPod nano review by Trusted Reviews says that the device is "a triumph of design and functionality."
"I remember looking at the iPod Mini and thinking Apple couldn't shrink it any further without losing that legendary iPod usability, but I was wrong. With the Nano, Apple has managed to create a positively anorexic form factor, while maintaining the industry leading click-wheel controller."
This is an extensive Apple ipod nano review, and covers a lot of ground. The review writer also mentioned that it would have been nice if the Apple Lanyard accessory, used to hang the Nano from your neck, was included in the package. You'll have to buy this accessory for headphones separately when it is released in a few weeks.

Glenn Fleishman of Personal Tech Pipeline wrote an iPod nano review and calls the new Apple ipod nano "Small, Sleek and Superior." He says he never liked the iPod mini because it seemed to be "half formed", but the new version of Apple's popular music, podcast, and audio book player should do the job.
"The nano weighs so little it’s hard to register when held in the hand. It’s the right size and depth to use comfortably."

Another 4 1/2 out of 5 rating coming in, this time from the Playlist website. They make a good point in saying that the ipod nano is like a "hybrid of the iPod shuffle, the now-discontinued iPod mini, and today’s full-sized color iPods."
This ipod nano review is well thought-out, filled with ipodnano details and the reviewer (Christopher Breen) also covers the Extras:
"The nano includes a few extras not found on other iPods, specifically the Stopwatch, Screen Lock, and a new clock that allows you to create multiple analog/digital clocks in the nano’s Clock screen."
Pros: Responsive controls; clear and bright screen; support for photo viewing; syncs quickly; no skipping thanks to flash memory
Cons: No syncing via FireWire; no support for viewing pictures on an attached television; can't boot a Mac from it
