PCWORLD has a First Look review of the ipod nano, and give it 4 1/2 Stars out of five. PC World didn't like that the headphone jack is on the bottom of the device... as we've heard many people say. I think it's good that the jack is on the bottom, and if you buy the accessory that lets the player hang from your neck, it makes sense. More on that soon.
"What you notice first about the iPod Nano, of course, is its size. It's tiny, sure, but that isn't all that unusual for flash memory players. What's really impressive about the Nano--and a real breakthrough for a lilliputian MP3 player--is its screen, a bright, crisp color display that makes navigating your tunes a breeze.
However, size does matter, so let's start with that. Take a standard business card, rip off one-quarter of it lengthwise, and what you're left with is about the size of the player. The device weighs 1.5 ounces and measures about a quarter-inch thick--you can barely tell that you have the Nano in your shirt pocket."

Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs got the crowd hyped as he introduced the new iPod nano which is "thinner than a No. 2 pencil" and called the "biggest revolution since the original iPod." The gadget can hold up to 1,000 songs and is about 80 percent smaller than the original iPod. CNET has a video of Steve Jobs presentation, as well as an iPod nano review that highlights the device's upside and downside.

Outlook: Apple's done it again. By virtue of a sweet design backed by decent tech (first 4GB flash player, photo-friendly color screen), Apple will keep its ball rolling swiftly into the holiday season. The Nano's capacity will turn off many experienced MP3 fans, but we have a feeling that newbies will flock to the next big thing and help maintain Apple's 74 percent U.S. market share for all digital audio players.
Apple iPod Nano ships today and will be in stores in a few days. A selection of accessories are also on the way in the next four weeks.

iPod nano is available in "ipod" white, or in basic black. They both have the same slick design. I think I might go with the black version though.
