HTC Universal PDA with Windows Mobile 5.0

Htc_universalNow that Microsoft has let the cat out of the bag with the Windows Mobile 5.0 announcement, we can expect a rush of products that take advantage of the new platform. The biggest buzz in the past few months surrounded the slick new HTC Universal PDA with qwerty keyboard. The photos had been appearing around the net, but the big question was, what would the device be running? Well, HTC - High Tech Computer Corp., now has plans to release the world's first 3G Windows Mobile 5.0-based device called? HTC Universal, no surprise there. Look what's instore.

  • a VGA screen at 640x480 resolution
  • QWERTY keyboard
  • Wifi and Bluetooth
  • 520 mhz processor
  • 2 digital cameras. 1 still / 1 video
  • SDIO card slot
  • Stereo speakers

Htc_pda_4The HTC Universal is expected in the second half of 2005 in Europe, North America, and Asia. Hey, that should mean real soon!  The functionality of this is beyond any PDA you've seen before, and has wi-fi capabilities as well. (Skype anyone?)  Dell has already announced a Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade for its popular Dell Axim X50 pda series, and we should expect other handheld manufacturers to release their plans in the coming weeks.
