Mobile TV in the works
If you feel the need to catch the latest news headlines, sports, or maybe some reality TV while on the road, get ready for Mobile TV. The much talked about concept will be available big time in 2006, but for now there's an announcement from Qualcomm that the company is testing television programing for mobile phones with TV networks CNN, ESPN, and Court TV among others. $800 million will be spent to build a network, so let's see if they opt for DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld) or the 3g HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) service model for Mobile TV. Although video on your mobile is available today through services like MobiTV and Vcast, DVB-H and HSDPA networks allow for a faster high-speed video viewing experience.
