Samsung SGH-i300 first Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone
You probably noticed Bill Gates holding this Samsung SGHi300 Smartphone when he announced the release of Windows Mobile 5.0 this week. It will be the first smartphone powered by Windows Mobile 5.0, and it has a lot to offer. It confirms the trend toward multimedia phones that will change the way we communicate and access digital media. Its 3gb internal harddrive will make it a breeze to store your music ( it supports MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+, and OGG formats ) files and other media. The QVGA 240x320 pixel resolution screen with 262,000 colors should make it a joy to view photos taken by its 1.3 mega pixel camera. The scrolling wheel in the middle looks very usable, a la iPod's wheel design.
With this phone from Samsung, Sony Ericsson's Walkman Phone coming this summer, and other multimedia Smartphones on the way from Nokia, Apple and Motorola need to get it together and release that iPod mobile phone everyone's been talking about. Bill Gates predicted the decline of the iPod this week, but I'll bet Apple has some surprises in the works!
