Yahoo Messenger adds Free Voip phone Service
Voice Over Internet Protocol ( Voip ) competition is starting to heat up with Yahoo getting in the game and adding free PC-to-PC phone service to Yahoo Messenger. With an estimated 65 million Yahoo Messenger users worldwide, Yahoo will instantly be in competition with voip leader Skype. Until now Yahoo Messenger allowed users to use a kind of walkie-talkie / click-to-talk service to communicate, but by adding voip, users will be able to make calls with a PC, a microphone, a headset, and an Internet connection. Skype has an advantage in that you can use their software to make voice calls with a PDA, and soon with some Mobile Phones. Yahoo shouldn't be far behind in this, and there's word that Microsoft MSN is getting ready to unleash its Voice over IP services soon. This is bad news for the big telephone companies, but all this competition will be great for us users who want free and fast telephony!
