Phishing, Adware, Spyware, Cookies? What's the Deal?

Tech savvy people understand most of these terms, but I've said it time after time, many people (kids, seniors) who use the Internet have no idea what some of these terms mean. I think it should be up to the major tech companies (Microsoft, Apple, Google, AOL,Yahoo, etc) to take users by the hand and explain the new security risks that are becoming a big part of everyday life.

I'm sick and tired of reading about people buying their first computer, and having MAJOR problems because these companies assume their customers will understand everything on day 1 !   Something is wrong here. And it will only get worse if nothing is done.    example

Hey, I have an idea.  A new computer buyer or customer automatically gets an email explaining clearly some of the malicious tactics of hackers, spammers, and spyware, and what they can do to avoid problems. (like identity theft)

It seems so obvious.

Sony PSP News - Web Browser, White PSP

Psp_playstation_portableIn Sony PSP news, Sony officials have announced the v2.0 firmware software upgrade for the PlayStation Portable that will make web surfing possible. Until now, access to the web was only possible by modifying a limited web browsing feature in the "Wipeout Pure" video games.  The new PSP web browsing feature will bring PSP web access to the masses.  It's also said that the upgrade will feature what Sony calls Portable TV, which allows wireless video transmission to the PSP. Will more PDA-like features be next? How about a slide-out QWERTY Keyboard Sony?

Also, Sony will be releasing a white PlayStation portable on September 15th... only in Japan though.

But in coming years, if you take a digital tour of your local museum, send video files while driving, watch a soccer game on the bus, or send flowers via radio signal, there'll be a good chance that Koreans helped make it happen.
