Toshiba HD-XA1 HD-DVD Player Shipping

Toshiba's HD-XA1 HD-DVD player is the world's first high-definition DVD player announced, and although HD DVD disc content is scarce, the HD-XA1 is now available in Japan (110,000 yen), with an April U.S. launch date expected as well.  The Toshiba HD-XA1 HD-DVD Player will come with a few HD-DVD movies including Resident Evil and Moonlight Jellyfish, allowing buyers to enjoy the quality of HD DVD viewing out of the box.  You'll have to wait for more video releases as they are slowly rolled out this year.

Nokia 2610, Nokia 2310 and Nokia 1112 Affordable Cellphones Unveiled

Nokia has announced three new affordable cellphones targeted at customers in growth markets like China, India, South-East Asia and Africa. Nokia expects that 3 billion people will own a mobile phone in 2008, many from these markets.  The Nokia 1112, Nokia 2310 and Nokia 2610 are described as easy-to-use, reliable and affordable mobile phones. All three cellphone models are expected to ship during the second quarter of 2006.

iPod Software Update - iPod Volume Limit Control and Bug fixes

Ipods Apple has released a software update for the iPod nano and fifth generation iPod. Apple iPod owners can now easily set their own personal maximum volume limit, and parents now have the ability to set a maximum volume limit on their child’s iPod and lock it with a combination code.

The new iPod software update 1.1.1 is available immediately as a free download for the iPod nano and the fifth generation iPod from www.apple.com/ipod/download. The new Volume Limit feature works with any headphone or accessory plugged into the iPod headphone jack as well as the iPod Radio Remote.

TabletKiosk eo V7110 UMPC Announced

The new TabletKiosk eo V7110 UMPC (ultra mobile PC) has been announced, widening the selection of Microsoft "Origami" styled ultra mobile personal computers. The eo UMPC is set to launch at the end of April with two versions: an $899 standard model and an $999 special offer with an upgraded hard drive. Unfortunately, the battery life for the ultra mobile PC's we've seen so far is only about 2.5 hours, which is pretty weak, but you can get 4 hours with an extended battery.

Panasonic DMP-BD10 High Defintition Blu-ray Disc Player

Next up with a high-definition Blu-ray Disc player announcement is Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. The Panasonic DMP-BD10 Blu-ray Disc player is the company's first, but it won't be available until September 2006. The DMP-BD10 will be released at the same time as Panasonic’s first 1080p Plasma TVs this fall, which are optimized for Blu-ray’s high definition entertainment capabilities.

Blu-ray Disc is the next generation optical disc format that features capacity as large as 50 gigabytes on a dual-layer disc and will be capable of holding high-definition movies, tens of thousands of songs, and extensive capacity for extraordinary video games and PC storage. Blu-ray Disc has the support of more than 170 leading companies including the top studios and consumer electronics manufacturers.

Dell has introduced the new Dell Latitude D620 and Latitude D820, slimmer and lighter notebook computers that feature Intel Core Duo processors and optional wireless broadband technology. Weighing in at about 4.4 pounds, the Dell Latitude D620 includes an Intel Core Duo T2300 processor and a 14.1-inch wide aspect XGA display. The $1,149 base configuration includes 512MB shared2 DDR2 memory, 40GB3 SATA hard drive and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi capability. The $1,289 Dell Latitude D820 (starting weight 5.6 pounds) includes an Intel Core Duo T2300 processor with a 15.4-inch wide aspect XGA display, 512MB DDR2 shared2 memory, 40GB3 SATA hard drive and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi capability. Advanced upgrade options for the D820 include the NVIDIA Quadro  NVS 120M business graphics solution with 512MB5, a high-resolution WUXGA display and 120GB3 hard drive.

NuVJ Video Controller from ArKaos and Numark

ArKaos and Numark have partnered to create the NuVJ video controller, a new cool tool for Djs. The NuVJ allows DJs to incorporate images and video clips, similar to the way a DJ mixes music. With the NuVJ video mixer, the VJ can trigger images and video clips, add effects to them, mix them through an onboard DJ style crossfader and tweak them in order to create unique and spectacular shows.
