Toshiba RD-A1 VARDIA HD DVD Recorder
Toshiba's RD-A1 VARDIA HD DVD Recorder has been unveiled, and will be first available July 14 in Japan for about 398,000 yen, or $3470, so start saving. The RD-A1 HD DVD recorder and player also has a 1-terabyte (TB) hard disk, enough room for 130 hours of digital HD TV. A 30GB dual-layer HD DVD-R disc can store about four hours of programming, and up to 115 minutes of HD content to a 15-gigabyte single-layer HD DVD-R disc. The new Toshiba RD-A1 VARDIA is a chunky 33lbs and 18x16x6.25in in size, but is also packed with features: Digital TV Tuner, supports 1080p (1920x1080 pixels progressive) output via HDMI 1.3, HDMI and USB ports, remote control, and you can record two TV programs, one digital HD and one analog, to the hard disk and simultaneously.
