BenQ Trio Writer BW1000 Blu-Ray, DVD, and CD Recorder
BenQ has announced the BenQ BW1000 Trio Writer, their next generation optical writer that incorporates three types of lasers to support multiple media formats. The BW1000 trio writer not only allows playback and recording of Blu-Ray discs, but also offers read/ write capability with both DVD and CD formats. The BW1000's separate LED indicators for Blu-Ray, DVD and CD which will make it easier to know what media you’re working with.
The BenQ BW1000 Trio Writer will be available in at the end of August 2006 at a suggested retail price of € 799,00 (about $1,020 USD), and will be one of the first Blu-ray burners available.
The BenQ BW1000 allows several advantages with Blu-Ray technology. For instance, it allows playback and recording of Blu-Ray discs with a storage capacity up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and an astounding 50GB on a double-layer disc. This means you can store up to two hours of high-definition TV or more than 13 hours of standard-definition TV content on a mere single-layer disc. To store data, Blu-Ray discs allow you to store the same capacity as five DVDs on a single disc. In addition, Blu-Ray technology enables you to enjoy a full high-definition viewing experience of Blu-Ray movie discs or, Blu-Ray movie discs created by a high-definition camcorder with 1080p (1920x1080 progressive).
