Cisco TelePresence Meeting Solution
After seeing Cisco's new TelePresence in action via Robert Scoble's PodTec video, all I can say is WOW! The Cisco TelePresence Meeting Solution takes live, "face-to-face" video conferencing over an Internet Protocol (IP) network to a whole new level. Now, click to enlarge the photos, and you'll see the TelePresence Meeting solution set-up in more detail. Notice the HDTVs on the otherside of the table where you can see life-size video of the people you're meeting with. I like the detail of the wood table that sort of melts right into the HD display.
The Cisco TelePresence Meeting solution was developed by Cisco from the ground up, and according to Cisco, combines ultra-high definition 1080p video and high-quality, wideband spatial audio, imperceptible low latency, with comprehensive environmental design. Tele Presence users feel as if they are in the same room together, even though they may be located across the globe.
podteCisco TelePresence Meeting solution is available in two models. The Cisco TelePresence 1000 is designed for small group meetings and one-on-one conversations, as well as emerging applications like the "virtual assistant." The Cisco TelePresence 1000 is ideal for use in executive offices, hotel lobbies, bank branches and medical offices. The Cisco TelePresence 3000 is designed for meetings of 12 people or more around a virtual table. Now if you're thinking about setting your company up with TelePresence, just remember that the Cisco TelePresence 1000 costs $79,000 USD, and the Cisco TelePresence 3000, $299,000 USD. Both are expected to be available in December 2006. No monthly operating fee is required.
