E-Ten glofiish X500 - World's thinnest Pocket PC Phone?

If we're to believe E-Ten's claim, their new glofiish X500 is the world's thinnest Pocket PC Phone at just 1.6cm thick. We know that "thin is in", but what does the glofiish X500 have to offer?  Well, it's a Windows Mobile 5.0 device with a Samsung 400 MHz Processor, and it's got GSM/GPRS/EDGE and Wi-Fi 802.11b capabilities, Bluetooth 2.0 and a SirRFstar III-based GPS receiver. Also included in this thin device: 128 MB Flash ROM, 64 MB SDRAM, 2.8", 240 x 320, 65,536 colors, TFT-LCD Touch screen, 2.0 mega pixels CMOS camera with 4x digital zoom and flash, Camcorder, Micro SD card slot, and an FM Tuner!  Not bad.

Bang & Olufsen Samsung Serene Phone going for $1275

If you've got deep pockets, high-end consumer electronics maker Bang & Olufsen and Samsung Electronics have got a deal for you. For just US$1275, you can be the proud owner of the Serene mobile phone, which arrives in North America in November 2006.

The two companies have been developing the unique, high quality, and expensive Serene phone "to enable comfortable and convenient communication."  By looking at the phone, I can't see how it would be easier to use than your normal cellphone design, I guess I'd have to see it in action to be convinced. The B&O Serene phone is made up of two equal parts that are bound together by an aluminum hinge. At first sight, the Serene looks backward because the display and microphone are placed in the lower shell, and the circular keyboard and loudspeaker are placed in the upper shell. There's a thumb operated wheel in the middle that is used for all primary operations.

Nokia 870 and Nokia 330 Handhelds???

Nokia_870

Here I am, just getting used to my Nokia 770 Internet Tablet Wi-Fi device, when this new Nokia 870 tablet with a little webcam and VOIP functions pops up. The 870 looks like it's bigger than the 770, but then there's that smaller Nokia 330 with a 3.5” screen for DivX video, MP3 audio, and GPS navigation that appeared the other day. That's the way it goes with consumer electronics, there's always something new on the way, but I'm still pretty satisfied with my (old) Nokia 770. We'll have to wait and see what Nokia has to say about these new gadgets...when they're ready.

UPDATE: The Nokia 330 Auto Navigation GPS device is officially announced.

Nokia_n93_with_mission_impossible_iii_mo

A good friend of mine bought a Nokia n93 multimedia phone a few weeks ago, and he loooooves the device, but unfortunately he missed out on Nokia's newest offer. In a "Hollywood first", Nokia has announced the launch of the full length Mission: Impossible III movie on memory cards to coincide with the film's DVD release. You can watch the flick on your Nokia n93, but the movie can't be played on a PC, or copied to another memory card. M:i:III starring Tom Cruise will be offered as part of the Nokia N93 sales package with no additional cost to consumers, and will be available in Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and the UK.

By the time the Nokia n95 Multimedia Computer is released (Q1 2007), there should be lots of movies to choose from.
