FujiFilm FinePix Z5fd Slim Digital Camera with Face Detection Technology
Already used in the mid-range Fujifilm FinePix F31fd, and the higher-end FinePix S6500fd digital cameras, Fujifilm's "face recognition" technology that recognizes and focuses on faces, is now also included in the new ultra-slim FujiFilm FinePix Z5fd camera. The 6.3 Megapixel FinePix Z5fd can record movies at 30 fps with sound, has a 3x optical zoom, 2.5" scratch resistant LCD screen, 26MB of internal memory and supports xD cards.
When Face Detection is turned on and the camera is pointed at people, target-like squares demonstrate that it has 'locked-on' to faces. The square will then follow those faces around in real-time until they move out of the frame or the picture is taken. In playback mode, pressing the Face Detection button will cause the camera to auto-zoom to each face in turn for easy close-up review.
The Fuji FinePix Z5fd will be available in silver, raspberry red and chocolate brown, when it ships in January 2007. Pricing will be revealed as the release date nears.
