What, another cool gadget from Samsung Electronics? That's right, the company is on a roll, but this time, unlike the Samsung Q1 UMPC, it's truly groundbreaking and ushers in the age of Mobile Wimax devices. The new Samsung SPH-P9000 Deluxe MITs Mobile Wimax / WiBro device was just announced at the Samsung Mobile WiMax Summit 2006, and it's a mobile convergence device like no other we've seen before. The SPH-P9000 is a PDA-based device uses high-speed (2-3 Mbps) Mobile WiMAX (WiBro in South Korea) for wireless access to the Internet, and CDMA EV-DO technology for voice communication.
This PDA-PC has a Microsoft Windows XP operating system, 1GHz (Transmeta) CPU, and a unique folding design with a QWERTY keyboard that flips out, and a five inch WVGA screen. This should be a great device for mobile web surfing, and entertainment on the go, with MP3 player function, VOD, 1.3-megapixel digital camera and camcorder, and a 30GB hard drive as well.
Samsung will deliver the SPH-P9000 Deluxe MITs Mobile Wimax, WiBro convergence device in mid-2007. No price has been set yet.
