Wii Videogame Console Launched
North and South American gamers waiting to be a part of the new Nintendo Wii Experience can now get in on the act and buy the Nintendo Wii console that includes the unique Nunchuk Wii Remote controller, and a collection of five different Wii Sports games in the package. Nintendo says that anyone can play using simple Nunchuk remote controller movements, experienced or not. Nintendo practically took over New York's Times Square for the Wii launch at Toys 'r Us megastore, where die-hard gamers were more than ready to give up $250 for Nintendo's next-generation Wii videogame console. Remember though, Wii is not just for hard-core gamers. Nintendo wants the whole family to play, including grandma!
“Wii reinvents games for the devoted player,” says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “But more importantly, Wii breaks the wall separating players from non-players by delivering the best game experiences for the most affordable price. We believe the next leap is games for the masses – young and old, gamer or non, alone, with a friend or with the whole family.”
Nintendo recently announced that 62 Wii game titles will be available within the first five weeks of launch.
