IPTV Xbox 360 Announced
Microsoft Corp. has brought together the Xbox 360 gaming console and the Microsoft TV IPTV Edition software platform in a unique digital entertainment offering called IPTV on Xbox 360. Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates made the announcement at his CES keynote address Jan. 7, saying that the integration of a video gaming console with Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) services will deliver a first-of-its-kind entertainment experience. IPTV on Xbox 360 will offer advanced TV service along with next-generation gaming, as well as unique new capabilities that the integrated solution brings. IPTV Edition functionality with Xbox 360 is all about high-definition digital entertainment in the living room, including next-generation games, TV, movies, and online Xbox Live gaming.
IPTV on Xbox 360 is expected to be available to consumers by holiday season 2007 and will be offered by providers that are deploying TV services over broadband networks based on the IPTV Edition software platform.
