Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC
Details of Samsung's new Q1 Ultra UMPC have emerged. The first thing you'll notice is that Samsung's second-generation Q1 ultra-mobile PC incorporates a thumb-operated QWERTY keyboard, so the touch-screen keypad that was on the original Q1 UMPC has been dropped. The new Q1 Ultra UMPC model has a higher resolution 1024 x 600, 7-inch display and runs Windows Vista Home Premium. The Q1 Ultra is said to have an 800MHz Intel microprocessor, 1G byte of DDR2 memory, 60GB of hard drive storage, and an external USB keyboard is also available. For connectivity, there's support for 3G HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) and WiBro / Mobile WiMax networks, as well as 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, 10/100Mbps Ethernet and Bluetooth 2.0.
The Q1 Ultra has a 3.5 hours 4-cell battery, with an optional 6-cell battery for 6.8 hours also available. There's a 1.3-megapixel main camera and a front-mounted 0.3-megapixel camera for video calls, a fingerprint scanner, and 1.5W stereo speakers as well.
The Samsung Q1 Ultra is expected to be available in May, and cost between US$1,300 to $2,000, depending on the processor.
