Asustek Eee PC Launched
Similar to the One Laptop Per Child program's inexpensive XO Laptops, Asustek Computer Inc. has launched their low-cost Asustek Eee PC, a small computer targeting children, elderly people and low-income users in the developing world. Because it was created for "the next one billion users of personal computers," Asustek made sure that the Eee PC will be easy to use for beginners.
Let's remember that the Asus Eee is no powerhouse PC, but just a simple PC for the masses, but it may also appeal to consumers who are looking for a small, light-weight notebook. It weighs only about 0.89 kilograms, has a 7-inch 800x480 screen, and will be available with a Linux operating system, or Windows XP, reportedly in four versions with prices ranging from about $245, $303, $337, to $426 depending on configuration.
