Touch Diamond Phone Featuring HTC's New TouchFLO 3D Interface
HTC's Touch Phone, with its Touch FLO touch screen interface was no competition for the iPhone's slick multitouch, but HTC has not given up. The company has just unveiled its beautiful new HTC Touch Diamond phone featuring a new 3D touch user interface called TouchFLO 3D.
“Today we mark a new era in mobile phone evolution, an era where beauty and size integrate with uncompromising innovation at broadband speeds,” said Peter Chou, president and CEO, HTC Corp. “The HTC Touch Diamond will make browsing the Web and using Web-enabled applications just as practical and easy to use as making calls.”
As a main attraction of the Touch Diamond phone, TouchFLO 3D provides "animated access to people, messaging, email, photos, music, weather and more." I must say, it does look pretty slick, but not as snappy as the iphone. Let's hope they can speed up the touch-to-action time before the phone is released. As far as connectivity, speed will not be a problem as this multimedia phone supports broadband-like speeds with HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA wireless connectivity which makes this more than ready for Web browsing on-the-go. In fact, HTC has added a new customized mobile Web browser especially for the Touch Diamond.
"As part of this browsing experience users can zoom and pan Websites with one-hand and automatically view optimized content that has been specially created to fit the display. Turning the device sideways automatically rotates the web page view from a portrait to landscape view."
The Touch Diamond also includes a customized, HTC-developed YouTube application for watching video content and Google Maps for mobile for mapping and traffic data on its 2.8 inch display.
