Modbook Pro Tablet Computer Unveiled at Macworld
Axiotron's award winning Modbook tablet computer goes "Pro" at the 2009 Macworld Expo in San Francisco. The company has unveiled the new Modbook Pro, which they claim is "the world’s fastest and largest-screen tablet computer." It's made from precision-machined aluminum, and features a 15.4-inch 1440x900 WXGA pixel resolution pen-enabled display with a surface layer of etched, paper-emulating ForceGlass for optimum drawing and writing comfort. It supports up to a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, up to 320GB of storage on a 7200-rpm hard drive or 128GB of storage on a solid-state drive, and an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics subsystem.
The Modbook Pro is 100% compatible with the Mac OS X operating system, and it can be ordered with a partitioned drive preinstalled with Windows Vista Business Edition as well. The system ships with Axiotron’s Quickapps suite, including the Quicktouch pen-supporting touch user interface, Quickclicks on-screen software keyboard and shortcuts, Quickflip screen rotation utility, and Quickscript advanced handwriting recognition applications.
The Modbook Pro is scheduled for release in May/June 2009. An Axiotron Modbook Pro built from a customer-supplied Apple MacBook Pro base system via Axiotron Modservice starts at $3,049, while an Axiotron Modbook Pro built from a brand new Apple MacBook Pro base system starts at $4,998.
