Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, Nokia E72, and Nokia 3710 fold Phones Introduced
Nokia recently announced three devices based on the S60 and Series 40 developer platforms. The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic phone, Nokia E72 messaging device, and Nokia 3710 fold phone are all scheduled to ship in the latter part of 2009.
The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic
phone is an S60 5th Edition device featuring a resistive touch screen and tactile
feedback on its 2.9-inch, bright nHD (640 x 360
pixels) AFFS (advanced fringe field switching) display. This touch phone has a full-screen QWERTY keyboard, full alphanumeric keyboard, and
handwriting recognition. The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic also features a 3.2-megapixel camera
with flash, a music player with up to 27 hours of playback time, a video
player, stereo
FM radio, accelerometer sensor, Nokia Music Store, Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR
connectivity, and up to 16 GB of user memory. It will retail for 199 euros (about $277) when it ships in the third quarter of 2009.
The Nokia E72 mobile device is
based on S60 3rd Edition (Feature Pack 2) and it is optimized for messaging
and e-mail with a full QWERTY messaging keyboard,
two customizable home screen modes, and support for a variety of messaging and e-mail formats, protocols, and apps. To make messaging even easier, the Nokia E72 offers an intelligent text input function. The device also features a 2.36-inch QVGA screen, a
5-megapixel camera, built-in GPS, Nokia
Maps, Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR connectivity, accelerometer sensor, stereo FM
radio, Flash Lite 3.0, and up to 16 GB of user memory. The Nokia E72 will cost 350 euros (about $487) when it ships during the third
quarter of 2009.
The Nokia 3710 fold is Nokia's new clamshell style phone, and it's based on Series 40 6th Edition. This device features the WebKit open source browser, built-in GPS, Nokia Maps, 3.2-megapixel camera with flash, stereo FM radio, music player, Flash Lite 3.0, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR connectivity, Nokia Ovi Share, and up to 8 GB of user memory. Expect the Nokia 3710 fold to retail for 140 euros (about $195) when it is released during the fourth quarter of 2009.
