Gateway Launches NV Series Entertainment Notebook PCs

Gateway's new NV Series notebook line includes the Gateway NV5214u ($499.99) and the Gateway NV5807u ($599.99) entertainment notebooks which are packed with premium performance features, yet very affordable. Available with either Intel or AMD processors, the NV Series laptops feature a 15.6-inch high definition LED-backlit TFT Widescreen display with 16:9 aspect ratio and 1366x768 resolution, designed for watching HD movies and video, and viewing digital photos and digital media content. An HDMI port is on board in case you would like to enjoy HD video and audio through your home theater, external LCD,  or HDTV. These notebooks also include two built-in stereo speakers powered by Dolby Sound Room. Full specs below.

New HP Mini 5101 - 10.1-inch Mini PC Netbook

The new top-of-the-line HP Mini 5101 netbook PC is aimed at on-the-go professionals, but it's priced for the average Joe at $449.  Weighing in at about 2.6 pounds, the HP Mini 5101 has a 10.1-inch diagonal LED display available in either WSVGA or high-definition resolutions, and a spill-resistant keyboard that is 95 percent of a full-size QWERTY keyboard. This netbook is available with either a four-cell battery, or a six-cell battery for up to eight hours of battery life. The Mini 5101 also features a low-power Intel Atom processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, and an integrated 2-megapixel webcam. A fast 7,200 RPM hard drive comes standard, while an optional Solid State Drive is also available in 80 or 128 gigabytes.

Toshiba Announces Redesigned Satellite Laptops

Toshiba has revamped its Satellite laptop line in time for students who are getting their "back to school" gear ready. The new Satellite models are available now in both Intel and AMD CPU configurations with prices ranging from $699.99 to $849.99. The Satellite M and Satellite U Series are for multimedia and everyday mobility, while the more powerful Satellite A and Satellite P Series handle HD entertainment and multimedia with a 16-inch diagonal widescreen HD Edge-to-Edge display, and huge 18.4-diagonal widescreen HD TruBrite display.

New Toshiba Satellite L Series Laptops Ready for Back-to-School Shoppers

Toshiba has a few budget-friendly “Back-to-School” laptops for students including the new Satellite L Series lightweight 14-inch Satellite L510/L515, the 15.6- and 16-inch Satellite L500/L505 and the larger 17.3-inch Satellite L550/L555 desktop replacement. The new laptops feature HD TruBrite widescreen displays, USB Sleep-and-Charge, up to 4GB of RAM, and hard drives ranging from 250GB to 500GB. These laptops are available with Intel or AMD processors, and select models are available with ATI Radeon 3100 graphics. 

The Satellite L500/L505 starts at $549.99, the Satellite L510/L515 starts at $649.99 and the Satellite L550/L555 starts at $649.99.

Sony VAIO NW Blu-ray Notebook PC

Sony's new VAIO NW notebook PC line offers high-definition entertainment in its Blu-ray equipped model for $880, and if you can't get an extra $80 bucks together, there's a standard VAIO NW notebook available for $800.

$880 is not bad for a multimedia notebook that incorporates a Blu-ray Disc ROM drive, and a high-resolution 15.5-inch widescreen display with Sony's XBRITE-ECO LCD technology which adds brilliant clarity and sharp detail to movies and photos. This Blu-ray notebook also has a convenient HDMI output connector which lets you watch your Blu-ray entertainment on a HDTV, or a large monitor that supports HDMI.

The thin Sony VAIO NW notebook sports a wavy textured finish, and it's available in walnut brown, birch white, and rattan silver colors. Powering the PC is an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, optional dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics, and Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Connectivity options include three USB ports and ExpressCard, SD card and Memory Stick PRO slots. A built-in webcam and microphone are also included.

Apple's New 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch Aluminum Unibody MacBook Pro Notebooks, and MacBook Air Update

Apple has updated its aluminum unibody MacBook Pro line with new 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch models that offer up to 40 percent longer battery life. These new MacBook Pros boast an LED-backlit display with greater color intensity, Apple's glass Multi-Touch trackpad, an illuminated keyboard, and depending on the model - an SD card or ExpressCard slot, a FireWire 800 port and state of the art NVIDIA graphics.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro (starting at $1,199), 15-inch MacBook Pro (starting at $1,699), and 17-inch MacBook Pro (starting at $2,499) are now available at Apple Stores and www.apple.com, as well as Authorized Resellers. Apple also updated its thin and light MacBook Air laptop with more powerful features. Two new Macbook Air models are available starting at $1,499 for a 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo system with a 120GB hard drive and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics,  and $1,799 for a 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo system with a 128GB solid state drive and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics

Alienware M17x 17-inch Gaming Notebook Boasts Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M GPUs with NVIDIA SLI Technology

Aimed at hard-core gamers, the new Alienware M17x from Dell is a powerful 17-inch gaming notebook that sports an anodized aluminum casing, and as usual, a unique Alienware chassis design. The M17x is described as “All Powerful” by the company, and the specs on this system back that up with up to Dual 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M GPUs with SLI technology. Pricing starts at $1799.

New Dell Studio 14z Multimedia Laptop

Dell's new colorful Studio 14z laptop line was designed for students and others who want to get work done and be entertained at home, in school or on-the-go. Starting at $649, the system features a generous 500GB hard drive option that can store up to 125,000 songs, 142,000 photos or 133 DVD quality movies, so you might not get any work done after all. With a sleek design and six color choices like Black Chain Link, Midnight Blue, Spring Green, Plum Purple, Ruby Red, the Dell Studio 14z is a stylish laptop to carry around. It's also available in Promise Pink (U.S. only) and Dell promises to donate $5 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure if you buy one.

The Studio 14z is available now in the U.S. and Canada.

Lenovo G550 and IdeaPad U350 Laptops, IdeaCentre C300 All-in-One Desktop PC

Lenovo is launching three new budget-friendly PCs this summer including the thin and light IdeaPad U350 laptop featuring a 13.3 inch LED screen and an HDMI connector, the 15.6-inch Lenovo G550 laptop for small-to-medium business users, and the Intel Atom based Lenovo C300 all-in-one 20-inch screen desktop, Lenovo's latest “Idea” PC.

The IdeaPad U350 laptop will be available starting in July for $649. The Lenovo G550 laptop will be available in June for $599, and the IdeaCentre C300 all-in-one desktop will be released in July for $449. 

New HP Mini Laptop PC Line-up Announced

HP has added the new HP Mini 110 XP Edition, the HP Mini 110 Mobile Internet (Mi) Edition, and the HP Mini 1101 to its Mini laptop family. The HP Mini 110 XP Edition and the HP Mini 110 Mobile Internet (Mi) Edition netbooks are aimed at Internet-centric consumers, while the HP Mini 1101 targets frequent business travelers.

The new HP Minis are very portable at a starting weight of 2.33 pounds and measuring just over 1-inch thick. They sport a 10.1-inch diagonal standard or optional high-definition LED widescreen display, a keyboard that is 92 percent the size of a standard notebook PC keyboard, a built-in VGA port, a 5-in-1 digital media slot, a built-in webcam and microphone. They are powered by either an Intel Atom N270 with 1.6-gigahertz processor or an Intel Atom processor N280 at 1.66-GHz, the HP Mini 110/1101. Hard drive options go from 160 GB up to 250 GB, and all models support solid-state drives options as well.

MSI GX723 Gaming Notebook Boasts 17-inch LCD Monitor and Turbo Drive Engine Technology

MSI X-Slim X600 and X400 Laptops

MSI has announced its new X-Slim 15” X600 and 14” X400 laptops which are scheduled to be released during the second quarter of 2009. These laptops are noted for being slim at less than one inch thick, and lightweight at 1.5kg for the X400 and 2.1kg for the X600. Both MSI models also feature 16:9 theater-class LED screens, full I/O ports, and Blu-Ray support. Already available from MSI in this series is the 13-inch X320 and X340 which weigh less than 1.3kg.

Dell Inspiron Mini 10v Netbook, Inspiron Slim and Mini-Tower Desktops, and Inspiron 15 Laptops

Dell brought vibrant colors and fresh new designs to its 2009 desktop, laptop, and netbook line-up which are all now set for release. Dell's new Mini 10v netbook, Inspiron Slim and Mini-Tower desktops, and Inspiron 15 laptop color choices have funky names like Jet Black, Alpine White, Ice Blue, Tangerine Orange, Pacific Blue, Jade Green, Cherry Red and Promise Pink, giving customers a nice selection to choose from. These Dell PCs are also reasonably priced, with the tiny Inspiron Mini 10v netbook, aimed at "kids, tweens, bloggers and travelers" who want to keep connected anywhere and any time starting at $299. The Inspiron 15 laptop stars at $399, while the Inspiron 537 and 537s slim and mini-towers are also given a starting price of $299.

The Dell Design Studio has more than 120 new artsy choices in its online gallery, including designs by Deanne Cheuk, Maya Hayuk, Jason Holley, TWEEQIM, Korakrit Arunanondchai, Filth, Robert Hargrave, Peter Stevens, Keith Warner and OBVLN. If you've never heard of these folks, you need to check out their funky artwork and grab one for your laptop if you've got $85 to spare.
