4 and 5-inch Samsung Galaxy Players announced

Set to go head-to-head with Apple's iPod Touch player, Samsung Electronics has just announced its new Android-based Galaxy Player which will be available with a 4-inch Super Clear WVGA LCD screen or 5-inch LCD WVGA display screen. The portable media player offers entertainment and multimedia on-the-go, including games, music, videos, e-books, and social networking with Twitter and Facebook. The Samsung Galaxy player will be running Android version 2.2 (Froyo) when released this spring in the US, but Samsung says that they will  be upgradeable to Android version 2.3 (Gingerbread) eventually.

New SanDisk Sansa Fuze+ MP3 Player

SanDisk has introduced its latest portable media player, the new Sansa Fuze+ MP3 player, available now in red, white, black, blue and purple colors. The player comes in 4, 8 and 16 gigabyte versions priced at $79, $89 and $119, respectively.

The Sansa Fuze+ is a successor to the Sansa Fuze MP3 player, and now has a rounded palm-friendly design, a new capacitive touchpad and a 2.4” QVGA LCD screen for viewing videos or photos.

New Apple iPod Shuffle Player Release This Week

Apple's fourth generation iPod shuffle player will be available for $49 for a 2GB model in silver, blue, green, orange and pink this week at Apple’s retail stores and and select retailers, and online. The new iPod shuffle is packaged with Apple Earphones and the iPod shuffle USB cable.

Wearable and Water Resistant Sony W250 Series Walkman MP3 Player

Designed for fitness and exercise enthusiasts, the Walkman W Series NWZ-W252 is Sony's new lightweight, wearable and water-resistant music player that is perfect for a sweaty run in the park or even for listening to music during a post-workout shower. Microsoft's 64GB Zune HD Player Now Available

All eyes have been on the Apple iPad lately, but don't forget about Microsoft's 64GB Zune HD player which has just been released and is on sale for $349 at the Zune Store.  Along with the sleek and modern design seen on the original Zune HD, the new Zune HD 64 portable media player provides room for up to 16,000 songs, or 20 hours of HD video. The device features a 480×272 resolution OLED multitouch -16:9 widescreen display, Wi-Fi, an Internet browser, and an HDMI output.

Creative ZEN X-Fi Style and Creative ZEN Style Media Players

Creative Technology releases their new Creative ZEN X-Fi Style and the Creative ZEN Style series portable media players this month, sporting a fresh design and affordable pricing. The ZEN X-Fi Style portable media player offers the same built-in X-Fi technology audio quality found on Creative's ZEN X-Fi2 player, as well as X-Fi Crystalizer and X-Fi Expand audio enhancement features which help to restore any quality lost in compression. FM radio and movies are also said to benefit from X-Fi Technology.

Samsung R1 and R0 Portable MP3 Media Players

Samsung Electronics is launching two new sleek portable media players, the Samsung R1 and Samsung R0. The R1 player is said to be smaller than the size of a credit card, with a 2.4-inch TFT LCD touch screen used to control audio and video content playback. The R0 model is also a digital audio and video player, and this one gets a 2.6-inch LCD display. Both the R1 and R0 incorporate Samsung's Digital Natural Sound Engine (DNSe) 3.0 sound enhancement technology, and both offer DivX video playback.

Archos Introduces New Vision MP3 and MP4 Players

Archos announced six new MP3 and MP4 players in its Vision line of portable music and media devices. Archos says that they've sold over a million of their previous music players internationally, which is no real challenge to Apple's dominance, but they hope these new players will bring that number up this year. Apple has this category all but locked down, but it's always nice to see new devices offering more choices for consumers.

The new Archos Vision players will be coming stores this Spring, with a variety of capacity and price options available.

Samsung IceTouch with AMOLED Touch-screen Display and Samsung MyFit MP3 Players

Samsung introduced two new innovative mp3 players for 2010, the IceTouch (YP-H1) features the world’s first transparent AMOLED touch-screen display and the portable media player includes a video player, audio player, photo album, an FM radio and it is also a portable storage device. The MyFit (YP-W1) player is a unique health gadget that features the world’s first wellness management technology with body fat and stress level measurements. It also helps to monitor fat thickness, calorie intake and burn, and exercise effectiveness.

The Samsung IceTouch and MyFit will be available in the first half of 2010 with 16GB and 8GB storage capacity, respectively. Pricing was not announced.

Creative ZEN X-Fi2 Portable Music, Photo, and Video Player

Creative has unveiled the new ZEN X-Fi2 portable media player featuring a 3-inch TFT LCD touch screen for scrolling through content, and the company's award-winning Xtreme Fidelity X-Fi audio technology. Offering music, photos and video on-the-go, the Creative ZEN X-Fi2 PMP supports iTunes Plus and FLAC (lossless), MP3, WMA, AAC, and Audible 4 audio, and WMV9, MPEG4-SP, DivX 4/5 and XviD video file formats. The device includes an FM radio, a video-out for viewing videos and photos on a TV, and a microSD card slot for expanded memory. The Creative ZEN X-Fi2 media player sells for $229.99 for the 32GB model, $179.99 for the 16GB model and $129.99 for the 8GB model.
