Research In Motion has announced the new professional-grade
BlackBerry PlayBook tablet device which will be running the new BlackBerry Tablet OS when it goes on sale in the United States in early 2011. RIM is also planning to release the PlayBook tablet in other international markets in Q2, 2011. The company touts the BlackBerry PlayBook as a device that offers web browsing, true multitasking and high
performance multimedia, along with security features and
enterprise support. Sporting a 7" display, this tablet is less than a half an inch thick and weighs less than a pound. The Play Book is powered by a 1 GHz
dual-core processor, and it supports Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Adobe Mobile
AIR and HTML-5. RIM also put dual HD cameras
for video capture and video conferencing and an HDMI-out port on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
